Last weekend, I made a last-minute decision. I went to see The Surge: An Ode to Sinéad O'Connor, and that choice (inspired by the sacred feminine) fundamentally shifted something in my body.
The show honoured Sinéad's piercing voice and fierce political conviction. It celebrated the fame she never wanted but used for the vulnerable anyway. Ten women dancers - all over 40 - interpreted her music and award-winning director Sonya Tayeh, led the production.
The Sacred Feminine and Transmutation
If I had to describe The Surge in a single word, I'd choose transmutation. The performance journeyed through the full range of sacred feminine energy. It moved through tenderness, grief, power, and ferocity. It touched vulnerability, creativity, flow, and truth.
At its core, The Surge honoured what happens when women come together. When we gather to remember and carry each other's legacies forward. It celebrated the raw power of change that can result from witnessing and holding another human being's experience.
Why Living Bravely Matters
The performance also reminded me to live bravely. To peel back my layers and stand in my fullest expression. Sometimes that expression is a loud, defiant howl. Other times, it's a quiet moment of vulnerability.
Watching these women move, I felt something shift. I remembered how much more we're capable of - far more than we've been told. Our gifts have real power and - just like Sinead and the 10 women on stage - can change someone else's life. But only if we're willing to give them expression.
So, this is me calling you to remember too.
To remember the sacred feminine energy inside you. Remember the gifts and potential you carry. Because when you let them lead, your life becomes fuller. It becomes more unapologetic. It becomes more real.
And that's exactly why a women's circle matters so much right now. In a world that moves fast, circles slow us down. They create space to witness and be witnessed and remind us that we don't have to carry everything alone.
So, I'm inviting you to sit in circle with me and together we'll remember all of this.
Or in Sinead's words, "The whole time, I'd never seen, all I need was inside of me. Now I feel so different."
